What is MaxCardPoints?

MaxCardPoints helps you figure out which credit cards are actually worth it for the way you spend money.

Tell it what you spend each month — groceries, dining, travel, gas — and it compares dozens of cards to show you which combination earns the most. No account required. No email. No monthly fee. It works offline, so you can use it anywhere.

How the calculator works

Every card earns rewards differently. Some give you more points on dining, others on travel, others on everything equally. MaxCardPoints scores each card against your actual spending to find the best match.

For travel rewards cards, it uses something called CPP — cents per point — to estimate what your points are worth. Business and first class redemptions tend to have a higher CPP, but they also cost a lot more points per trip. If you're happy flying economy, you can stretch the same points into more trips. And sometimes, a good cash back card offers comparable value to an economy redemption — but with more flexibility, since you can put that cash toward flights, hotels, car rentals — the brand of your choice, or even your bills if that's what you need.

The calculator takes all of this into account. If it spots a situation where cash back could match your points value while giving you more freedom, it'll flag that so you can decide what works best for your travel style.

These are estimates, not guarantees. Redemption values vary by airline, route, and availability. The goal is to give you a useful comparison, not a precise prediction.

About the creator

I built MaxCardPoints because I'm passionate about helping people save money — and I kept seeing people leave value on the table with their credit card spending.

It also gave me a great excuse to learn to code. I wanted to build something actually useful, not another app that asks for your email before you can do anything or charges a monthly fee just to see results.

MaxCardPoints is simple on purpose. There's no account, no subscription, no maze of options to click through. You put in your numbers, you get your answer, and you get on with your life.

Enjoying the calculator?

MaxCardPoints is completely free to use. If it saved you time or helped you find a better card, consider buying us a coffee — it goes directly toward building the Points Trip Planner.
